Billing & Insurance

Insurance

For many reasons (including your privacy and billing issues), I do not accept insurance.

However, to make my services more affordable and accessible, I offer different options to select from based on your financial circumstances. See below for details.

Practice Privacy & Security

I do not use an electronic health records system (EHR like Simple Practice, TherapyNotes, etc.) My handwritten notes/scribbles are regularly shredded. My typed notes are saved on a password-protected computer and backed up to an onsite network server that is also password protected. Nothing is in a cloud. Your privacy is very important.

Session Rates

I use a menu based on your financial means for my session rates. When you complete your intake forms, you will then select the option that best describes your current financial circumstances. As you choose your payment option, you might consider other expenses in your life and what you pay for things like eating out, ordering in, haircuts, manicures, lawn care...

Option A

This may fit if you are comfortable in your lifestyle with access to career choices that provide for you (and your family). Your finances allow you to regularly schedule self care that can't be submitted for reimbursement.

 Initial Consultation
(15 minutes)
 Free
 Individual Counseling
(60 minutes)
$120
Couples & Family Counseling  (60 minutes)$150
Documentation or Professional ConsultationsFree, though I reserve the right to charge at my discretion to be discussed (ex: detailed letter that requires an extended amount of time to write; multiple calls with other mental health or physical health professionals)

Option B

Consider this option if you can pay your bills and have just enough of a cushion for occasional out-of-pocket expenses for “extras” like a gym membership, acupuncture treatments, an occasional massage, mani/pedi, etc.

 Initial Consultation
(15 minutes)
 Free
 Individual Counseling
(60 minutes)
$100
Couples & Family Counseling  (60 minutes)$130
Documentation or Professional ConsultationsFree, though I reserve the right to charge at my discretion to be discussed (ex: detailed letter that requires an extended amount of time to write; multiple calls with other mental health or physical health professionals)

Option C

If you are underemployed, paying for a lot of care out-of-pocket, or are unable to indulge in trips, takeout, and shopping beyond the necessities, then you may feel more able to meet your demands with this rate.

 Initial Consultation
(15 minutes)
 Free
 Individual Counseling
(60 minutes)
$80
Couples & Family Counseling  (60 minutes)$110
Documentation or Professional ConsultationsFree, though I reserve the right to charge at my discretion to be discussed (ex: detailed letter that requires an extended amount of time to write; multiple calls with other mental health or physical health professionals)

Sessions that extend past 70 minutes are billed every 15 minutes (or part thereof) at 25% of your rate. For example, if your rate was $100, a session that lasted 85 minutes would be considered two additional blocks of time and therefore be billed: $100 + (2 * 25% * $100)= $150.
Intensive sessions (more than 2 hours) can be booked in advance; rate will be discussed in advance.
